Kalken Labs to participate in the 2026 IDE Chile International Conference

Kalken Labs presented its study on gaps in access to urban facilities on Radio Duna

Kalken Labs founders José Tomás Elton and Agustín Ross spoke with Rodrigo Guendelman on Santiago Adicto about territorial inequalities in access to urban services.

The interview, broadcast on 1 September 2026, presented the main findings of Kalken Labs’ analysis. The study assesses how close people live to healthcare facilities, schools, green spaces and other relevant urban facilities.

During the conversation, the founders explained how integrating geospatial data reveals differences within individual municipalities that broad indicators often conceal. This approach provides more precise evidence for understanding cities and informing investment and planning decisions.

Chilean Chamber of Construction presents an urban land-use mix study covering 34 municipalities in the Santiago Metropolitan Region at the 15th International City Conference 2026.

Kalken Labs contributed essential territorial data to this CChC study.

The analysis examined nearly 44,000 city blocks across Santiago and found that 80% have a single land use. This pattern affects the proximity between homes, jobs, shops, services and urban facilities, with direct consequences for travel times and the quality of life of nearly four million people.

Kalken supported the study with relevant territorial information that helped identify differences across the city and contribute evidence to the urban planning debate.
